Halasana or Plow Pose improves the tone and strength of muscles of the back, abdomen, and legs. It massages the digestive organs, boosts digestion, and reduces belly fat. Practicing this asana regularly can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and help control high blood pressure. It stimulates the thyroid gland and strengthens the immune system.
Steps:
1.Lie flat on the back, with the arms placed beside the body and palms facing downwards.
2.Inhale and lift the feet off the ground using abdominal muscles. Make sure to place the legs at a 90-degree angle.
3.Use the hands to support the hips and lift them off the floor.
4.Bring the feet in a 180-degree angle, such that the toes are placed over and beyond the head.
5.Hold the back perpendicular to the ground, concentrate on the breathing and stay in the position for a minute.
6.Exhale and bring down the legs and end the pose.
Avoid practicing the pose if you have diarrhoea, neck injury or are menstruating.
